Eel_pei_island_from_the_bridge Bridge_and_eel_pie_and_birds_1 The_bridge_to_eel_pie_island_1    A_eel_pie_hut_1The_eel_pie_bird_sanctury_1The_boat_yardthese are some shots we took last month of the island. It still holds that magic some thing.

The 1st shot is off the island from the bridge, looking upstream,

the 2nd is the bridge to the island with lots of birds , they hang around for the food generously donated by the local children.

The 3rd is the bridge, again but the birds have flown,

the 4th is a hut on the boat yard , looks like an impressionist painter was let loose , but thats the thing with the island, you might think you are talking to a boat builder but he may have many other identities,

the 5th is the bird sanctuary , where all those birds came from, presumably,

the 6th is Laurence's fantastic boat/hut, where he crafts guitar's or writes his books, I think, will have to get an update.....

update

Michele has been busy recently, interviewing people and being interviewed herself in return by radio 4. She tells me that it will be 'out' in Jan 2007. so we will keep you posted as to the exact times. Maybe I can get a link to the radio 4 web so we can all hear her. She will be talking about the book, which is progressing well. The program is all about Eel Pie island and is a must for any one remotely connected with it .

With the fine weather we have been having I was inspired to take a few shots of the island. Its drain off time so the river looks different. It is time to get down in the mud for a bit of prospecting, have a wee look for the ancient artifacts as are reported to lie there a plenty. Mostly I found stolen bikes and a trolley. I was told that the ancient stuff would look a lot less obvious, and be smaller, mostly. Was hoping for a whole fort or two.

Have a look in the photo section for my shots of island life, cheers Susan

P.S. we would live to hear from you about your experiances of Eel Pie, and also we are trying to put together a set of photographs/ images of past times on eel pie island. It would be fantastic to see your pics.
